Work on Self does not have as its only purpose the improvement of the quality of one's life. It can also be seen as a means to achieve a level of being which would be capable of functioning in a higher cosmos or dimension, that is to say a different dimension, a place where the rules of action, thought and emotion are very different.

We cannot even hope to address the material offered to us in the Teachings unless we realize that the waking state gives us access to a very different dimension to that to which we are accustomed to inhabit. How can we even seriously consider the idea of working on a higher level unless we are also willing to consider the question of negative emotion: fear, anger, hate, vengeance, jealousy, personal insecurity, etc., etc.? These are the things which form the exact basis for the hallucinations which are projected by the mental body and which are overlaid onto the higher dimension. And these are only the most obvious of the negative emotions which are projected by us to overlap and obscure the vision of the Real World, in some circles known as the Void.

Of course I do not wish to omit other negative emotions which we often take for granted as "positive", like for example ecstasy or happiness or euphoria or joy. Lordy! If you knew how negative joy really was, it would depress the hell out of you. Remember we start off with the idea that negative emotion is the involuntary "emotion" generated by the machine and not all of it has to be experienced as unpleasant.

It will not do any good attempting to dircetly attack the negative emotions produced by the sleeping state of the machine. They are way too strong and far too subtle. They cannot be got ahold of. Neither can they be stopped once they are in motion. But we do have another type of "strength", although this needs to be developed. We do not have the strength to stop the speeding locomotive of the machine's negative emotion, but we do have the ability to bring the machine into what is called the "waking state". And the trip is this: in the waking state there is a notable absence of negative emotion.

Now this is a pretty important idea for a candidate for the Work to deal with, because when someone leaves the human dimension and enters into a higher dimension, there is an absence of negativity . . . except for that negativity which continues artificially as a reverberation just out of simple habit. And there is no way to break this habit of manifesting negatively except to teach the machine not to manifest negatively and not to permit negative states to run rampant through the organism. And this is achieved, not by acting directly upon a negative state, but by waking the machine.

On entering the waking state, the machine automatically dissolves all negativity which exists at that moment. The waking state has got many properties and characteristics which are aligned with the vision of the higher dimension and which have similar effects. Just like the astronauts in Houston,Texas, USA train in zero-gravity chambers on Earth in order to be later able to function appropriately in the zero-gravity of Outer Space, one must spend the remainder of one's life preparing to function in a different kind of zero-gravity: the zero-gravity of the absence of negative emotion as will be experienced in the higher dimensions.

Technically speaking there is no reason why you should not be able to produce the waking state in your machine in the course of your daily life. That is, you should be able to get out of bed tomorrow morning, go to your place of employment, your school or wherever you go or whatever you do, and get into the waking state for a few moments every now and then throughout your day. As you may have practically experienced, the odds are heavily stacked against your doing this.

What one generally has to do is to set up a special space, usually with the assistance of others, in order to increase the probabilities that the machine will enter into the waking state and remain in it for a longer time. It is not inconceivable that in such circumstances the machine would allow itself to enter into the waking state. On the other hand is it more or less inconceivable that it would do this at your place of work, where you make a living. And this is because the manifestations of the waking state are incongruent with that environment.

Although our objective is not to change the behaviour of the machine, nevertheless, in the waking state the machine exhibits a certain conduct and manifestations which are very different than what it exhibits ordinarily, simply due to the lack of negative emotion. And of course it is this lack of negative emotion which makes the machine that much less interesting for others, and which may produce serious social problems for the folks around you.

So for these reasons the probabilities are greater that your machine will allow itself to enter into the waking state in a protected space, a space in which the machine feels safe, where it does not feel exposed to danger and where someone would be around who knows how to cope with any problem which might come up. A space in which you feel it is ok to wake the machine.

We can look at the machine as if it were an aquarium, one of those fishtanks that folks have at home with tropical fish. Viewed from inside, there is no outside. The dimension immediately bordering on the tank is invisible due to the light at the top of the tank which causes the vision to not penetrate the glass walls of the tank and to see only a reflection of what is happening inside the tank. Under certain circumstances, for example when the light bulb is turned off, the glass walls of the tank will no longer reflect the interior scenery and will in fact become transparent.

At this point, one can actually see through the walls. As if by magic the glass walls of the tank will have ceased to reflect only what was happening inside the tank and this experience is as if a whole new world has opened up. In practise, one does not have to turn off the light; one can also learn to penetrate through the reflected images which are caused by the light from the bulb. In this case the light remains on, but one has learned to differentiate between the images proceeding from the outside, that is, from the dimension which surrounds the tank and those proceeding from the reflection of the inside of the tank itself.

When the inside light is no longer shining and does not illuminate the glass walls, the walls become transparent. Until this occurs, we are only able to view what the tank contains. Even though the light is not extinguished, it is possible to know what the contents of the inside of the tank are, By Direct knowledge of ONESELF, thus eliminating what one knows to be the inner contents of the tank, and as the great Sherlock Holmes said, “everything that remains, as improbable as it may seem, is the truth”.

If the glass walls of the aquarium become transparent and one can see the higher dimension, this of course does not mean that one is actually IN the higher dimension. The higher dimension is quite visible but one is still inside the aquarium.

In the same exact way the human machine has walls which are normally opaque and thus they reflect only what is on the inside. Essentially you are living inside your own head and what you see, whatever you see, is your own reflection of the world which is being returned to you. Throughout your whole life, you only see what you expect to see. Given certain circumstances the walls of the human biological machine can also go transparent and the non-phenomenal world becomes unveiled.

And the crazy thing is, the great irony of our existence is: it was there all the time!

Of course this does not mean that you have left the machine, only that the machine has become transparent and practically speaking is not there any more, it has ceased to exert force. The state is one of non-interference from the machine. This state can occur accidentally, sometimes on purpose, eventually if you are trained correctly in the methods of a school this state can occur voluntarily. To stabilize oneself in this state takes time; it doesn't happen overnight.

Once this stabilization occurs, then you have a machine which is capable of functioning as a transformational apparatus and practically speaking negative manifestation no longer exists.

The functions of the higher centres, which are activated by the waking state, and the functions of the lower centres, which produce negative emotion, cannot exist in the same place and at the same time.

Some of the exercises and practises which are made available to one through a school are designed to remove the barriers presented by the machine and they do result in some behavioral changes in the machine; but it would be a serious error to directly attack the machine's negativity and deeply seated programming. Besides you don't need to do this. And it would probably take you a few billion years.

So since we haven't got the time to go through the whole of the machine's stored emotional repertoire, nor the time to classify all its mental, emotional and reflexive contents, it turns out that the easiest and most efficient way to accomplish what we wish to accomplish is by bringing the machine into the waking state, which eliminates all traces of biological conditioning and negativity produced by the sleeping state.

So one objective of the outreach program of a school is to provide the tools to awaken the machine to those who are searching for them, which turn out to be the same tools required by an individual at the moment of death and beyond, when the higher dimensions are, shall we say "forced upon one".

So let's say that about 90% of the goal of school-training deals with learning how to cope with and be at ease with the non-phenomenal spaces of the higher dimensions, the space which you experience both in the waking state of the machine as well as in the absence of the machine, i.e., after death.

A school should teach you to navigate with skill and dexterity through the higher dimensions; even though they may be continually visible and available to us just outside the machine, they are inaccessible to us while the machine remains in the sleeping state.

Normally, if the machine begins to awaken, the sensations and emotions are too strong, the perceptions too powerful; there is far too much detail and it is too different from the sleeping state. One finds oneself running away, trying to return as quickly as possible back to one's "normal state".

And this is exactly what happens in ordinary life; a constant battle to prevent the machine from entering the waking state, because at first this state is quite uncomfortable and all the voices of conditioning which you have are screaming at you to be "comfortable" and to remain "comfortable" for as long as possible, in all and everything you do.

The waking state is something which needs getting used to. In this state you might lose some of the habitual distractions of life which you are accustomed to, and you just might turn into the most boring kid on the block for your old friends, but soon this will pass . . . that is if you survive. (smile)

So, this cannot be said in a simpler or more direct way, You are preparing yourself for the broader experience of the higher dimensions and for a life without negativity. This is what you are doing by attempting to work on yourself, whether you realize it or not.

And it's also just about the only thing which you can do with this lifetime in a human biological machine, both now in your present life, as well as later after you have left the machine behind.
